GLOBAL WARMING...

global warming is cause by the increase of temperature. This will cause melting of ice in poles. Here are some information about the warming global and its effect toward our earth and wildlife especially animals at the artic.

The whale is not a FISH, but a MAMMAL.

A whale breathes with lung and has to come to surface to breathe by inhaling air through the blowhole. When it breathes out, compressed air is forced out the blowhole in a spray of air and water called a spume. Young whale are born alive. Whale swim by flukes move up and down. Whale have smooth skin.

LIFE CYCLE OF THE WHALE

A whale baby is called a calf, a mother is a cow and a father is a bull. Whales usually have one baby at one times. The whale calf is born under water with it eyes open and ready to swim. The calf must go to the surface as soon as it is in order to breathe. A whale calf grow very fast. The whale calf will stay with its mother until it is able to find its own food.

MIGRATION

Many whales migrate from their cold home to the warmer place to mate and give birth to their babies. This is a long journey. Its takes them about 3 months to travel each way.

TOOTHED AND BALEEN

Whale are divided into the way they catch their food. The two group are the baleen whale and toothed whale. Baleen whale have special plate that grows from their upper jaws. The baleen strains food out of the water. Plankton and krill are the main foods sources. Two examples of baleen whale are grey whale and humpback whale.

Toothed whale must chase and catch their food. Their foods usually fish, squid or shellfish. The teeth grips the food while the whale tears its prey apart. Sometimes toothed whales swallow thier food whole. Some examples toothed whale are sperm whale, killer whale bottlenose and narwhal.

A POLAR BEAR

The polar bear is a large bear that lives in the Arctic. it is also called White bear or Northern bear. It has black fur under the white fur.
APPEARANCE

Polar bear fur consists of a layer of dense underfur and an outer layer of guard hairs. They are strong and can swim very well. Polar bears are similar in size to a normal bear but have a slimmer neck, longer legs and fur.

LIFE

They are mostly carnivorous. They eat mostly seals and fish. When polar bears hunt, they often wait at holes in the ice, where the seals come up to breathe. Polar bears live alone. Young polar bears stay with their mothers for 1 - 2 years and they become mature when they are 5 - 6 years old.

MATING

Polar bears mate in april or may. The cub is born in december, when the mother is hibernating. The cub stays in the den with the mother until march. Then they all come out. They have to eat immediately after hibernating. Sometimes, because of global warming this is impossible and the cubs die before they have a chance to live. The cub leaves its mother in 2 -3 years.

THE LIFE OF A PENGUIN..

All 18 species of penguins are native to the southern hemisphere, but they are not limited to the icy Antartic area. There are only two true antartic dwellers, one of which is the well know emperor penguin. The emperor penguin is well adapted to the very cold climate of southern most region.

MATING
In winter, each female lays a single egg. The male penguin puts the egg on his feet, protecting it against the cold with a flap of skin. This is his job for the next 60 days, while his mate is far away at sea building up her food and fat reserves. The male penguins haddle together to preserve warmth and can shuffle along, changing their position so that no individual is on the outside of the group for too long.

WHAT THEY EAT?
When the chicks hatch, the females have returned with ample food supplies. Penguins eat a variety of fish, though each species has its own preference. They swallow their food whole and partly digested food is reurgitated for the young. When incubating their single egg, emperor penguin males can go without food for at least 2 months losing up to half their body weight. Chicks are unable to feed themselves till they have the adult plumage, which is waterproof. They can then enter the sea to hunt fish.

The animals at the cold region..

Most of us have an animal as pet at home. some has cat, dog, hamster, monkey, and many more. We can find this animals in anywhere place in our world.

How about in cold region such as north pole and south pole?? Do any animals live at that place??

YES!! There are animals live at such cold place also..

Some animals that we will show here are Polar Bears, Penguins, Seals, Arctic Foxes, Snow Bunting and Northern Fulmar.

Two types of poles

Can you guess where can you find penguin and polar bear in out earth??? Maybe some of you guess in the zoo. That is correct but the real habitat for this animals is in pole... there are two pole which are south pole and north pole.

The north pole is the northernmost point on Earth, lying diametrically opposite the south pole. At the north pole all directions point south, it longitude can be defined as any degree value.

While the south pole lies on a continential land mass, the north pole on a continential land mass, the north pole is located in the middle of the arctic ocean amidst waters that are almost permanently covered with constantly shifting sea ice.
